GA Partnership Releases 2025 Top Ten Issues to Watch Report and urges local communities to take the lead in visioning and promoting education opportunity and economic mobility

January 10, 2025 – The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education (Georgia Partnership) today released the 2025 edition of the annual Top Ten Issues to Watch report. Now in its twenty-first year, the report continues to spotlight and analyze the key education issues Georgia will be or should be addressing in the coming year. The issues presented in this edition focus on how to address Georgia’s immediate education and workforce needs while also making gradual improvements to strategies over the next decade to reach our North Star goal of ensuring 65% of Georgians aged 25 to 64 have earned a post-secondary credential by 2033. Each issue highlights the benefits of removing the barriers that keep all Georgians from experiencing a good quality of life. The report is laid out in three sections: 1) A Recipe for Deeper Learning; 2) Building Momentum to Reach the North Star; and 3) Investing in the Solutions of the Future.

The highly anticipated report is written so the public can understand the complexities of the education landscape and is widely disseminated to leaders and education stakeholders across the state. Each Georgia legislator, for example, receives a copy at the opening of the legislative session, school districts leverage the report in their leadership training, and colleges and universities routinely incorporate the report in their education policy classes.

“The 21st edition of the Top Ten Issues to Watch report is a cross-sector, clarion call for every leader in Georgia to embrace their role in improving our state’s education and workforce outcomes,” said Dr. Dana Rickman, president of the Georgia Partnership. “We believe that the data and commentary presented will guide conversations with policymakers, educators, and community and business leaders about these challenges and opportunities before us. We intend for it serve as a go-to guide for understanding our state’s biggest education challenges and equip leaders with the tools to devise solutions that improve education and economic outcomes for all Georgians.”

The report is available in hard copy and online.  The Georgia Partnership will provide a free copy upon request (nasadullah@gpee.org). Postage reimbursement will be required for mailing two or more copies.
