Article: Georgia’s Balancing Act – Using, Protecting, and Legislating Student Data

Dear Board Member:

The latest edition of the Standard – the Journal of the National Association of State Boards of Education – includes an article written by the Georgia Partnership’s Policy and Research Director, Dr. Dana Rickman.  The story, which can be found on page 10, is a “tale of how legislative action first imperils efforts to marshal education data effectively and how better legislation prevails.”  Please share this article with your associates.

The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education is a recognized leader in advocating for the proper use of student data to make informed education decisions.  Last year, the organization was named the Data Quality Campaign’s national “Flashlight Award Winner” for its “outstanding work in promoting and protecting effective data use in the service of students.” As a reminder, here are the details.
